Do you ever wake in the morning, press snooze a few a ton and spend 30-minutes staring into your closet trying to figure out what to wear?
ME TOO.
I mean, who cares if you get the bad a$$ job with your bad a$$ resume if you can’t dress for it when you get there?!
This is actually something I’ve always struggled with. It’s not that I just can’t decide what to wear (that would really be such a #basicgirlproblem) I’ve JUST always looked young and therefore, inexperienced at work. This is not just in my head. I’ve been called out for it.
Which sucks if you are at all ambitious. Ever happen to you?
Recently, I came across some TIMELESS, affordable clothing for the aspiring & passionate #bossbabe and HAD to share.
Because we should all dress like we’re the next big CEO! Because we probably are. Let’s be real. And let’s dress like a CEO, too.
LEGGINGS…I MEAN, WORK PANTS:
Sitting at a desk all day, trying to concentrate AND be productive, it’s so important to be comfortable. I found these incredible Gap and Old Navy work pants, that look more professional than jeans but are equally as comfortable.
I love the straight-legged or skinny work pant, you can pair it with a belt and almost any shoe. The best part, they come in SO many different styles.
I LEGIT have 8-10 pairs (omg, embarrassing) of the Old Navy Pixie Pants pants. The Gap pants are the ones pictured.
Gap almost always has amazing sales so you can get these pants as low as $20!I love that you can pair these with a blazer, booties, flats, whatever you may be. They really are like the traveling pants of professional wear.
FYI, Old Navy Pixie Pants are only $30 (!!!) ON SALE RIGHT NOW, which is so affordable it’s actually crazy.
I linked some of my favorite styles below, check them out!
GET THESE PANTS, ON SALE BETWEEN $45 – $15
(is this real life?)
TIMELESS WORK SHIRTS ON A BUDGET:
Timeless work tops that don’t look like you are heading to the club are so hard to find! I love that with the work pants (above) you can pair almost any shirt and make a an amazingly cute work outfit!
MATCH ANY SHIRT (I LOVE A PLAIN WHITE-T) WITH YOUR NEW PANTS)
NO BLISTER PROFESSIONAL SHOES:
OK, so the shoes I am wearing in this picture I actually don’t even have a link for (besides their website) but they are that COMFORTABLE and are actually slippers you can wear as flats. That’s right, SLIPPERS. They are called Birdies Slippers and I discovered their store in SF and have not taken them off.
I’m absolutely obsessed! I made the investment in my first pair of Birdies recently and my life was changed! They are so comfortable, and literally feel like slippers!
That being said, there are tons of other shoes that resemble Birdies, if these are out of your price range! I found some I loved at Target, Nordstrom, and Asos.
FLATS THAT ARE ACTUALLY SLIPPERS THAT ARE ACTUALLY FLATS
So go get ’em tiger and go get that job! Best case? You’ll save your money and still be able to dress the part. Which is pretty freaking cool.
first, I’m so happy I don’t have to dress for work every day any more lol buttt second, I loved finding work clothes that were a steal. Especially transitional pieces like sweaters or shirts that could look more professional or casual depending on how you styled them!
YES! And you are soooo lucky should we trade?! I love more comfortable clothing so I had to share this article! XO!
I agree with Rachel 😉 I am a nanny so I don’t have to worry quite as much, but I LOVE those flats and would totally wear them other places outside of work. So cute!
Ahhh – yes, that makes me so happy! They are literally slippers!
Those slippers are awesome! I’m pretty sure I have those Old Navy pants as leggings lol.
Yessss, they are the best!
Thanks so much for sharing! Now that I am officially working a full time big girl job, I have really been struggling with my wardrobe. I want to look professional, but still youthful and also not spend lots of money. This was helpful! I need those shoes. Oh, and nice to see you are also in the Bay Area! I live down in Santa Clara 🙂
No way!! We need to connect sometime, send me your email via IG! 🙂 Santa Clara is soooo close. I work at Google in MTV. I totally feel the same way, dressing for work is SUCH a struggle!
I loved this! As I start doing all of my observations for my undergrad in education, I’m always looking for good professional style advice! killing it girl.
Thank you!! 🙂 Let me know if you have any favorites!
